"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty."
~ Maya Angelou
Hello, my name is Denisha. I am the owner of Hope Harbor and Wellness, LLC and a licensed psychotherapist providing outpatient therapy via telehealth in the State of Virginia. The inspiration for my private practice started brewing years ago. Never would I have imagined during a pandemic that I would face my fears and follow my dreams by sharing my vision with the world. I have always had the passion to help and support others from early childhood. In a time now when most individuals need support more than ever in the field of mental health, I am able to continue my passion of helping others. Because you are bold and courageous enough to take the first step, I am committed and happy to support you on your journey. For more than a decade, I have worked alongside different individuals of all ages and populations in various settings in the field of behavioral health. At my private practice, I will support you along your journey of navigating through life’s transitions by equipping you with practical tools to help you develop strategies for personal growth.
Let’s discuss my approach: I work from a strengths based perspective that empowers individuals to focus on their strengths rather than their challenges as the center of the helping process. We will work together in a collaborative effort to develop an individualized plan of care for you in a comfortable, safe and nurturing environment. In my practice, I am passionate about working with adults, children and families and specialize in individual and family focused strengths based treatment approaches that empower others to focus on maximizing their individualized potential. On a day-to-day basis, I work with individuals and families that may experience feelings related to anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues and trauma. I have a special interest in working with women and issues that women face on a daily basis and devote a significant part of my practice to specialized support in perinatal mental health and postpartum support.
In addition, I am a Registered Clinical supervisor with the State of Virginia and enjoy opportunities to supervise residents of counseling while assisting counselors to continue developing clinical skills in an effective and ethical manner while promoting their professional growth.
